McDonald's Worldwide Convention

McDonald’s events lie in OSA’s roots. Having mixed audio since the 80’s for McDonald’s meetings, OSA has had the privilege of watching the growth of one of the world’s most universal brands through their meetings & events. The 2018 Worldwide Convention certainly was one of the largest global gatherings bringing together 15,000+ McDonald’s owners & operators, corporate employees, agencies and suppliers from all over the world. Held at the Orange County Convention Center, the four-day event was produced by Kindle Communications with the final night produced by Executive Visions. OSA offered audio design and execution solutions for this multifaceted event.

The scenic environment for the business sessions was designed in-the-round for an immersive 360° environment, including three satellite stages throughout the audience to drive conversation between the main stage and others. For the first time ever at this biennial event, the environment was completely transformed into a panoramic multi-screen set to support the shift from business presentations to a closing concert. The biggest challenge was creating a focused and impactful audio system without blocking scenic and LED elements for the two spectacular environments.

To create a PA suitable for some of the biggest names in entertainment, OSA designed a combination of Martin Audio system that resulted in a comprehensive acoustical design. The environment change over and sound system reconfiguration required OSA to quickly deploy larger arrays that were pre-positioned out of the way for the previous business sessions. This large scale system provided effective coverage and high-quality SPL for A-list talent during the business sessions. The closing concert began with violinist Caroline Campbell and cellist Tina Guo performing Hans Zimmer’s “Wonder Woman,” and then included songs by David Foster and Friends, including Pia Toscano, Shelea, Peter Cetera, Chloe, Katy Perry and Steven Tyler.
